Healthy Weight Loss Without Starvation

There are many of us that have tried to lose weight in a number of ways and with the trendy nature of the health industry it is not an exaggeration to say that there are probably millions of ways to lose weight. But healthy weight loss can be hard to get right and this is especially true if you consider the things that some of these diets and exercise routines demand of a person.

The health industry promotes the idea that the shorter the amount of time it takes to lose the weight, and the less effort that one has to put in, the better. But maybe one should question this idea. If one thinks about the nature of gaining weight and how this does take time, then surely it would make sense to realize that the amount of time taken to lose weight is probably going to be about the same.

Losing weight can be difficult to achieve and it does take time. In most cases weight loss takes longer than a person would like, but there is a good reason to be patient with the process. Most crash diets have shown that even though the results are extreme and that they happen within a matter of weeks, there is a very big challenge when one stops a diet such as this. The main challenge here is to now actually keep off the weight that the body has lost.

If the human body goes through a period of starvation, it is trained into thinking that food is always going to be scarce and that in a way it almost has to treasure every morsel that is given to it. So instead of processing the food in the manner in which it normally would, the body turns most of the nutrients into fat as it tries to store food. This is done as a result of the body thinking that this is the only food that it is going to get and as a way of preventing future starvation.

You have to treat your body with the respect it deserves. Don't expect to suddenly get the idea of getting out of bed to exercise one morning and then suddenly lose all the weight within days. While it is good to have the desire to want to lose weight, this has to be managed and implemented properly.

The first element is most obvious and would refer to one's diet. Now there is no need to give up everything and only chew on limp celery sticks. The most important philosophy is "everything in moderation." Eat when you are hungry and don't over eat. It is best to have six small meals a day as this stimulates your metabolism which means that your food gets processed faster and your body does not store as much fat.

Secondly, you need to exercise but this must not be too much for your body to cope with. Make sure you just do an easy start and then you can increase the intensity as you go. Exercising three times a week is already a good step.

So adopt a patient attitude towards weight loss and treat your body with the respect it deserves. You will very soon find that healthy weight loss will be a given.
